Description of key information

Testing of the Oxidising properties of Charcoal, coconut shell does not need to be conducted, as the substance does not contain oxidizing functionalities, and is therefore incapable of reacting exothermally with combustible materials.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As per theREACH Regulation (EC 1907/2006), Annex VII, sub 7.13, the Oxidising properties study does not need to be conducted ifthe substance is incapable of reacting exothermally with combustible materials.

Charcoal, coconut shell is produced from non-oxidising lignocellulosic material under reducing conditions. It has therefore no oxising functionalities. Moreover, it has a high carbon content and is itself a combustible material.
