A preliminary test was performed to check the approximate freezing temperature of Oxirane, mono[(C12-14-alkyloxy)methyl] derivs. / ERC Nr 17.The test item was stored 24.5 hours at
-26 °C in a freezer. As the sample was frozen after this time the freezing temperature of Oxirane, mono[(C12-14-alkyloxy)methyl] derivs. / ERC Nr 17 is above -26 °C.

During the main tests, about 7 mL of the test item placed in a small test tube were cooled down from room temperature to about -25 °C using a dry ice and acetone mixture.

At –24.7 °C (1sttest) and –25.2 °C (2ndtest), respectively, the test item was frozen by visual judgement.

The tabulated values represent rounded results, which were obtained by calculation using the exact raw data.

Conclusions:
The freezing point of Oxirane, mono[(C12-14-alkyloxy)methyl] derivs. / ERC Nr 17 was determined to be -25.0 °C, which is equal to 248.3 K. The estimated accuracy is ± 0.5 K.

Executive summary:
The freezing point of Oxirane, mono[(C12-14-alkyloxy)methyl] derivs. / ERC Nr 17 was determined to be -25.0 °C which is equal to 248.3 K by visual judgement.

Description of key information

The determination of the freezing point / freezing range of the test item was performed according to the EEC Directive 92/69, December 1992 and Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, A.l "Melting/Freezing temperature" and to the OECD Guideline No. 102: "Melting point / melting range", adopted July 27, 1995. At -24.7 °c (1st test) and -25.2 °c (2nd test), respectively, the test item was frozen by visual judgement.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
