Additional information

Terrestrial studies with earthworm, plants and microorganisms are available for the structural related fly ash. The chemical components of cenospheres are in the same range as for fly ash. This result is expected since cenospheres are a component of fly ash and the results of fly ash can be used as read across for ash (residues), cenospheres. The test substance shows only low toxicity at high test concentrations.

As the test substance is not classified as toxic or harmful, the substance is not considered to cause toxic effects in predators. Additionally, the bioaccumulation potential is low and thus the test substance is considered to cause low hazard to predators. Thus, a study with birds is not needed due to animal welfare reasons.
