Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Vapour pressure assessed on several studies, reporting estimation methods using (Q)SPR techniques. Such methods were used as the expected vapour pressure was at the lower limit of that which can be reliably determined experimentally.

For low-volatility compounds, the method of Myrdal and Yalkowsky (1997) tends to overestimate vapour pressures (Barley and McFiggans, 2010) when provided with an experimental boiling point. The modified Grain method by EPA MPBPWIN gives a value having the same order of magnitude of the previous one. Therefore it appears reasonable to calculate the vapour pressure of trioctyl benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate as the mean of Moller and Nannoolal methods, to obtain a summary value suitable for the assessments of the above substance.

VP= (6.72E-05 + 5.19E-05)/2= 5.96E-05 Pa= 4.47E-07 mmHg.

A structurally related substance, 1,2,4 -benzenetricarboxylic acid with linear C8- and C10 -alcohols, produced by esterification of trimellitic anhydride with a mixture of linear C8-C10-alcohols (40 - 60 % C8 and 40 - 60 % C10) rather than C8 alcohol alone was shown to have an experimentally determined vapour pressure of 1.34E-7 Pa at 25 deg C
