Description of key information

Data on the substance itself are not available. Data are available on a structural analogue of the substance, a trimellitate ester with mixed C8-C10 side chains.

1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic acid, mixed decyl and octyl triesters does not produce acute or chronic toxicity to earthworms or plants at high concentrations in soil. Since 1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic acid, mixed decyl and octyl triesters does not pose an acute or chronic hazard to the terrestrial compartment, it is not possible to derive NOECs or PNECs needed for quantitative risk assessment. However, it is possible to qualitatively conclude based on available effects test data that 1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic acid, mixed decyl and octyl triesters is not harmful to terrestrial organisms.
