Description of key information

48 hrs aquatic toxicity study (SSS QSAR prediction model, 2016) was conducted to assess toxic effects of the test compound Phenethyl isovalerate (CAS no 140-26-1) and the results were predicted. The study was based on the effects of the test compound on the Daphnia magna in a static fresh water system. The predicted data suggests the effective concentration (EC50) for the test compound Phenethyl isovalerate was estimated to be 42.887329102 mg/L on the basis of mortality. According to the CLP regulation the chemical was classified in chronic category 3 but as the log Kow value of chemical was less than 4 therefore, the chemical was non-classified according to the CLP criteria.

Additional information

Various predicted data for the target chemical Phenethyl isovalerate(CAS No. 140-26-1) were reviewed to summarize the following information:

48 hrs aquatic toxicity study (EPI suite, 2016) was conducted to assess toxic effects of the test compound Phenethyl isovalerate (CAS No. 140-26-1) and the results were predicted. The study was based on the effects of the test compound on Daphnia magna in a static fresh water system. The predicted data suggests the effective concentration (EC50) for the test compound Phenethyl isovalerate was estimated to be 1.956 mg/L on the basis of mobility. The chemical is likely to be classified in chronic category 2 but as log Kow was less than 4, therefore the chemical is likely to be not hazardous as per the CLP criteria.

On the basis of the above resultsof various studies of short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates for target substance, it can be concluded that the substance can be classified as non- hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.
