Description of key information

At ambient temperature the technical grade product orthosulfamuron is a stable white fine powder with a tendency to form clumps. It is odourless, melts at 157C and decomposes at 185C without boiling. The product is not highly flammable and does not have a self-ignition point below its melting point.

Orthosulfamuron has a relative density of 1.48.

Vapour pressure of is ≤ 1.116 x 10-4 Pa at 20°C and < 1.4 x 10-4 Pa at 25°C.

Surface tension is 71.4 mN/m at 22°C (3.77x10-2 g/L solution).

Orthosulfamuron is soluble in water, and its solubility increases with the pH value. It is also soluble in most common solvents. Only in n-heptane and in xylene is solubility reduced to 0.2 and 130 mg/L, respectively. The percentage of hydrolysed product increases with the decrease of pH value. The product has no explosive or oxidative properties.
