Description of key information

The hydrolysis study does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.

 

REACH regulation requires an assessment of the biotic degradation potential of the substance as part of the environmental biodegradation hazard assessment; further studies can be provided if necessary. The ready biodegradability of 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene was studied in a closed bottle test equivalent to OECD 301D. The test substance was degraded to 73.3% after 28 days. The 10-days window was met. The substance 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. Investigation into further forms of biodegradation are not required.

 

REACH regulation requires an assessment of the soil adsorption / desorption characteristics of the substance as part of the environmental transport and distribution hazard assessment; further studies can be provided if necessary. Based on the OECD 121 HPLC-method, the adsorption coefficient on soil and sewage sludge was estimated to be Log Koc of 2.246 (Koc 26668). Investigation into further forms of environmental transport or distribution need not be conducted.
