No experimental studies are available, in which the
adsorption/desorption potential of Glycine, N-methyl-, N-coco acyl
derivatives, sodium salts (CAS 61791-59-1) was investigated. Therefore,
the log Koc was calculated by QSAR for the environmentally relevant pH
values of 4, 7, and 9, using ChemProp v6.5 (Franco, Fu & Trapp, acid
model). Since the substance is a UVCB the log Koc was calculated for its
three main constituents Sodium palmitoyl sarcosinate (CAS 4028-10-8),
Sodium myristoyl sarcosinate (CAS 30364-51-3), and Sodium lauroyl
sarcosinate (CAS 137-16-6). The model input parameters are the pH value
(4, 7, and 9), the pKa value of the acid forms (3.96, SPARC v4.6) and
the log Pn (-1.3, OECD 117), corresponding to the log Kow of the
The molecules lie within the applicability domain of the model
(pKa and log Kow ranges) and the results were identical for all three
molecules. The obtained log Koc is 0.87 at pH 4 (Koc = 7.39 L/kg), 1.40
at pH 7 (Koc = 24.86 L/kg) and 1.40 at pH 9 (Koc = 24.95 L/kg),
indicating a low potential for adsorption to particles in soil and
sediment at the environmentally relevant pH of 7. The log Koc at pH 7 is
retained as key value and indicates that the substance is mobile in
water at pH 7 and above.
