Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because based on structure, surface activity is not expected or cannot be predicted

Description of key information

Surface tension: Not surface-active

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

On the basis of structural examination, none of the constituents of the submission substance are expected to be surface active. In addition, the constituents of the substance have water solubility values of <1 mg/L. Therefore, the requirement for testing is waived in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII.

A surface tension value of 68.2 mN/m at 20.1°C was determined for the substance using a ring method in accordance with OECD Test Guideline 115 and in compliance with GLP, but the result was disregarded because the amount of the test substance used for the study was overloaded above the recommended saturation concentration of the test substance (about 1200 mg/L).
