Due to the low logPow accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

In accordance with column 2 of Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted if the n-octanol/water partition coefficient is <3. At pH 4.7 2-ethylhexanoic acid has a measured logPow of 2.7. A pKa of 4.76 indicates that the molecule will predominantly exist in its anionic form under environmental conditions and charged species are generally considered to be less bioaccumulative than their neutral counterpart. Therefore, and for reasons of animal welfare, no test on bioaccumulation in fish is performed.
