Description of key information

Transport and distribution of 2-ethylhexanoic acid, iron salt in the environment are most accurately evaluated by separately assessing the fate of its moieties iron cations and 2-ethylhexanoate anions. Iron is considered to be immobile ( Log Kd sed 4.997 L/kg dw and log Kd susp 2.34 L/kg dw; 12 °C) with its bioavailability being controlled by geochemical processes. However, significant adsorption to the solid soil phase is not expected for the readily biodegradable 2-ethylhexanoate anion.
