Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In the study entitled “OSA Determination of the Abiotic Degradation of the Test Substance by Hydrolysis at Three Different pH Values Following OECD Guideline 111, The Official Journal of the European Communities L 142/518 Method C.7 and OPPTS Guideline 835.2120 and the Estimation of Water Solubility”(Lian, 2012) a preliminary Tier 1 study was not conducted since structurally-similar substances are known to be hydrolytically unstable at pH 7 conditions and at 50 °C (branched C12-alkenyl succinic anhydride, CAS No. 26544-38-7).

At pH 7.0, half-lives were determined to be 8.3, 4.0 and 2.0 minutes at 15, 25 and 35 °C, respectively. The calculated half-life based on the Arrhenius Equation at 25 °C was 4.0 minutes at pH 7.0.

Based on these results, aqueous abiotic hydrolysis would be expected to contribute significantly to the degradation of the test substance at pH 7.0.
