Additional information

The registered compound is expected to show a fast hydrolysis under environmental conditions. The calculated half-life of the registered substance is 4.0 h at pH 7 and 20-25 °C (QSAR). Therefore, hydrolysis is a relevant pathway for the degradation of the parent compound in the environment. The resulting hydrolysis products are methanol and 3-(N-butylamino)propylsilanetriol. Photolysis can be expected to contribute to the overall degradation of N-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]-1-butanamine (CAS No. 31024-56-3) and its silanol hydrolysis product in air. If emitted into the air, it will rapidly photodegrade (estimated half-life for indirect photodegradation: 0.17 d, OH-radicals (parent) and 0.16 d, OH-radicals (silanol HP)). However, the substance and its silanol hydrolysis product both have a low vapour pressure and therefore air is not a relevant compartment for the distribution of the registered compound and its silanol hydrolysis product.
