Description of key information

A test on flammability is technically not possible, as the test substance is a liquid. For liquids, the primary value for ease of ignition is the flash point (IUCLID section 4.11).
Based on experience in production or handling, 4 -chlorotoluene has no pyrophoric properties (Currenta, 2010).
Based on the structural formula, 4 -chlorotoluene does not emit flammable gased on contact with water (Currenta, 2010).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on a flash point of 49 °C, the substance has to be classified as flammable.

Based on experience in production or handling, 4 -chlorotoluene has no pyrophoric properties. Therefore, the substance does not need to be classified.

Based on the structural formula, 4 -chlorotoluene does not emit flammable gased on contact with water. Therefore, the substance does not need to be classified.
