Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: EU method. GLP study.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Remarks on result:
other: The sample temperature in these compartments, does not exceed the temperature criterion 400 °C, so the test item is not self-ignitable in accordance with test A.16.

On the graph temperature versus time there are exothermic changes of the sample between the temperature of oven 195 – 250 °C and 300 – 350 °C connected with self-ignition of the components of the reaction mixtures. The sample temperature in these compartments, does not exceed the temperature criterion 400 °C, so the test item is not self-ignitable in accordance with test A.16.

Conclusions:
The test item is not self-ignitable in accordance with test A.16.
Executive summary:

The determination of the relative self-ignition temperature of the test substance was performed according to EU method A.16. A certain volume of the substance is placed in an oven at room temperature; the temperature / time curve relating to condition in the centre of the sample is recorded while the temperature of the oven is increased to 400 °C, or to the melting point if lower, at a rate of 0.5 °C/min.

The sample temperature does not exceed the temperature criterion 400 °C, so the test item is not self-ignitable in accordance with test A.16.
