The components of DVB/EVB reaction mass substances exhibit slight solubility in water (36 mg/L) and moderately high vapour pressure (52.9 Pa) at 20°C, and therefore have estimated Henry's Law Constants (~200 Pa*m3/mole) which are indicative of being highly volatile from water. The substances exhibit moderate potential for adsorption to organic matter of soil and sediments (log Koc = 2.97), which is consistent with their moderate value of log Kow = 3.8. Collectively, these properties indicate that, if emitted to the atmosphere, the DVB/EVB reaction mass substances will remain primarily in the atmosphere, where rapid reaction with photochemically-generated hydroxyl radical will occur (half-life estimated at 6.3 hours). Due to this rapid reaction, the components of the DVB/EVB reaction mass have low potential to become persistent atmospheric pollutants, or to be transported for long distances in the atmosphere. Some deposition of these vapour emissions to soil and surface water can be expected. If emitted to water, the substances will remain primarily in that water compartment, with significant partitioning to associated sediments and a lesser extent of volatilization to the atmosphere.
