explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Justification for type of information:

An expert statement has been issued in which it was concluded that the substance has no explosive properties.
-Expert statement: see included in study report (see Data Source)
-Expert: M.J.C. Brekelmans, MSc. (WIL Research Europe B.V., The Netherlands)

Expert statement :
A test substance is considered explosive when it can react to produce very rapid increases in temperature or pressure
The test substance does not contain chemical groups which are associated with explosive properties.
In conclusion, TMAH pentahydrate has no explosive properties.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
GLP compliance:

Description of key information

From the evaluation of structural features of the substance, i.e. the absence of structural alerts, it was concluded in an expert statement that the UN acceptance procedure for Class 1 explosives or the EC A.14 explosivity test does not need to be applied. The substance has no explosive properties.
A statement rather than a full study was considered sufficient to cover this endpoint. The statement was written by an expert in accordance with EC A.14 and UN TDG-MTC Appendix 6 in compliance with the principles of GLP.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on structural features, classification for the explosive hazard is not required according to CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008
