First-aid measures

- General advice:

Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

First aider needs to protect himself.

Place affected clothing in a sealed bag for subsequent decontamination.

Plan first aid action before beginning work with this product.

- Inhalation:

Move to fresh air.

Keep at rest.

Consult a physician if necessary.

- Skin contact:

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

Wash off with plenty of water.

Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes).

Consult a physician if necessary.

- Eye contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

Get immediate medical advice/ attention.

- Ingestion:

Do NOT induce vomiting.

Do not give anything to drink.

Consult a physician if necessary.

Fire-fighting measures

- Extinguishing media:

Suitable: Water spray, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Not suitable: High volume water jet

- Specific hazards:

On combustion, toxic gases are released.

Risk of dust explosion.

- Specific fire fighting methods:

Use appropriate means for fighting adjacent fires.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.

Remove all sources of ignition.

Handling and storage

HANDLING

- Technical measures:

Ground/bond container and receiving equipment.

- Advice on safe handling and usage:

Avoid the formation or spread of mists in the atmosphere.

Avoid dust formation.

Use ventilation adequate to keep exposures below recommended exposure limits.

The product must only be handled by specifically trained employees.

Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use.

- Hygiene measures:

Emergency equipment immediately accessible, with instructions for use.

Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing.

Remove and wash contaminated clothing and gloves, including the inside, before re-use.

Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.

Use clean, well-maintained personal protection equipment.

Store personal protection equipment in a clean location away from the work area.

Keep working clothes separately.

Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.

Shower or bathe at the end of working.

When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

STORAGE

- Technical measures:

The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a water-tight basin.

- Storage conditions:

Recommended:

Do not allow contact with air.

Protect against light.

Keep container tightly closed and dry.

Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

- Packaging Measures:

Packaging conditions: Store in original container, glass bottles

Packaging materials - Recommended: Polyethylene, Tinted glass.

Packaging materials - To be avoided: Aluminium and its alloys.

Exposure controls / personal protection

- Engineering measures:

Dust must be extracted directly at the point of origin.

Facilities and equipment easily cleanable.

- Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:

Use a respirator with an approved filter if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.

Handling product in bulk: Respirator with a particle filter (EN 143)

If vapour is released: Respirator with a vapour filter (EN 141), Respirator with a gas filter

Handling molten product:

Long sleeve gloves

The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time.

Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.
