1. Appearance / physical state / color

The test substance is a brown microgranulate with sweetish odour (at room temperature).

2. Melting point

A gradual partially decomposition of the test item starts with the melting process at 250°C.

3. Boiling point

This study does not need to be conducted since the substance decomposes before boiling [decomposition temp. > 250 °C].


4. Density

The bulk density of the test substance was determined to be 769 kg/m3 at 20°C.

5. Granulometry

The results of the dry sieving test of are presented in the table below:

6. Vapour pressure

At 20 °C the determined vapour pressure was 5.75x10-4Pa, at 25 °C it was 7.76x10-4Pa.

7. Partition coefficient

The logPow was determined to be -1.96 at 25°C.


8. Water solubility

The substance is very soluble in water, at 20°C following results for the water solubility as a function of pH have been obtained:

34.55 g/L with distilled water at pH 5.4;

15.68 g/L with buffer solution at pH 4.0;

18.02 g/L with buffer solution at pH 7.0;

28.45 g/L with buffer solution at pH 10.0.

9. Surface tension

This study does not need to be conducted, as surface activity is not a desired property of the material.


10. Flash point

This study does not need to be conducted based on the physical state of the substance (solid). According to ECHA guidance, flash point is only relevant to substances that are liquid at room temperature.


11. Auto flammability

The relative self-ignition temperature has been determined to be 212 °C.

12. Flammability

The test item was not flammable under the conditions of the test.

13. Explosiveness

The test item was not expolsive under the conditions of the test.

14. Oxidising properties

The test item has no oxidising properties under the conditions of the test.

15. Stability  in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products

The study does not need to be conducted as the stability of the substance is not considered as critical. The substance is applied only in water solutions (recommended use).


16. Dissociation constant

A stability constant of 39.01 for FeHBED, which was based on the protonation constant of the chelating agent HBED by potentiometric, spectrophotometric methods in KCl supporting electrolyte (0.100 M) at 25.0 °C and calculation programs, was confirmed.

17. Viscosity

This study does not need to be performed as the substance is a solid and viscosity measurement is only relevant to liquids.
