Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The toxicity of Fe(Na)HBED towards water flea (Daphnia magna STRAUS) was investigated in accordance to OECD Guideline 202 / EU Method C.2 (Nierzedska, 2008). The experiment was conducted in standardized Elendt water M7 medium, which was also used for culturing and as dilution medium. Before testing, the medium was aerated for 30 min. The test concentration as well as control was set up in four replicates. A 16h light: 8h dark cycle was applied with an ambient temperature of 20 +/- 1 °C. The test was run in a static manner. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with UV-VIS detection was used for analytical investigations. K2Cr2O7 was used as reference substance, resulting in and EC50(48h) value of 1.26 mg/L (95 % CL: 1.11 - 1.44 mg/L), EC0(48h): 0.56 mg/L and EC100(48h): 3.2 mg/L. The preliminary as well as the definitive test were conducted as limit test, with one single concentration (100 mg/L). No effects were observed, however, it was considered as unnecessary to test higher concentrations. Therefore, the EC0(48h) is greater or equal to 100 mg/L, whereby the EC50(48h) and EC100(48h) are greater than 100 mg/L.
