Additional information

Rats from all nitrite-treated groups showed paroxysmal
outbursts not found in the controls or in their own
pre-nitrite EEG recordings. These changes were more frequent
in the high-dose group than in the two others.
At cessation of NaNO2 treatment (after 4.5 month), outbursts
disappeared in rats from group B (100 mg NaNO2/l) which
nevertheless showed diffused and sharp waves. In rats
from others NaNO2-treated groups, outbursts appeared during
the recovery period (Shuval and Gruener, 1972).
