DT50 1.87 - 4.49 days (AOPWIN v1.92)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Studies are only available for ethanol, one of the four main constituents of Fusel oil. As this is a UVCB substance, phototransformation in air was calculated for the representative components using AOPWIN v1.92 (Kampara, 2013). Half-lives from 1.87 to 4.49 days(24 h day; OH-concentration: 0.5E+06 OH/cm³) were obtained for the different constituents, indicating slow degradation by indirect photolysis. In the studies conducted with ethanol shorter half-lives were obtained, but the tests were not conducted at standard conditions. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACH and there is no indication from the CSA on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance, no further testing is considered necessary.
