Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Low adsorption potential expected due to log Kow < 3

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to column 2 of EC 1907/2006 Annex VIII the testing on “Adsoption/Desorption” does not need to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient) or if the substance and its degradation products decompose rapidly. Based on log Kow ≤ 3 for all main constituents of Fusel oil the potential for adsorption is quite low. Hence, testing of the adsorption and desorption attributes is not necessary.

However, to estimate PNEC sediment and PNECsoil by the equilibrium partitioning method data of the sorption behavior of the main constituents of Fusel oil are calculated. Since measured sorption values are not available for the test substance or its main constituents, the Koc was calculated using the QSAR using KOCWIN v.2.00 (Kampara, 2013). The obtained Koc-values range from 1.045 to 5.568 L/kg based on the MCI method and from 2.199 to 16.87 L/kg based log Kow method. The corresponding log Koc-values are in the range of 0.0191 to 0.7457 based on the MCI method and from 0.3422 to 1.2272 based log Kow method.
