Description of key information

Additional information

Hydrolysis:

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the hydrolysis test does not need to be conducted as the substance is highly insoluble in water (water solubility < 5 µg/l).

Biodegradation:

Biodegradation is not applicable for sulfur as the substance is inorganic.

Bioaccumulation:

Aquatic / sediment bioaccumulation:

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, a bioaccumulation study need not be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (for instance a log Kow < 3). As sulfur is an inorganic substance, it will not have any significant potential for bioaccumulation.

Terrestrial bioaccumulation:

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, a bioaccumulation study need not be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (for instance a log Kow < 3). As sulfur is an inorganic substance, it will not have any significant potential for bioaccumulation.

Adsorption/desorption:

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, an adsorption/desorption study does not need to be conducted if based on the physicochemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (i.e. the substance has a low log Kow). As sulfur is an inorganic substance, it will not have any significant potential for adsorption.
