LC50 > 100 mg/L for Cyprinus carpio (nominal; OECD 203)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two Guideline studies (OECD 203) are available investigating the short-term effects of Milori blue (CAS 25869-00-5) to fish. The first study with the carp Cyprinus carpio was performed as a limit test at a concentration of 100 mg/L (Sato, 1997). No mortality was observed during the 96 h test period and the LC50 was therefore determined as greater than 100 mg/L. A second study using the ricefish, Oryzias latipes, also used a single dose concentration of 100 mg/L (Sato, 1996). The LC50 (96 h) was determined as greater than 100 mg/L since no mortality was observed. The results from both of these studies indicate that Milori blue is not acutely harmful to fish.
