Description of key information

In all tests with the test item, no signs of oxidising properties were perceived and no prop-agation of the flame occurred. Therefore the test item is considered to have no oxidising properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

The study was conducted in accordance with EU method A.17: “Oxidizing Properties (solids)”.

In the pre-test, the mixture of cellulose and test item started to burn for a short time, after a longer contact with the flame of the burner.

The maximum burning rate of mixtures of a reference item (Ba(NO3)2) was determined. Likewise, an approach was made to determine the burning rates of mixtures of the test item with cellulose (in different proportions). The mixtures of the test item did not ignite at all. Only the mixture with 90% test item ignited for a short time, but the flame died when the flame of the burner was removed. As no propagation of the flame could be observed no burning rate could be determined.

Therefore, the test item PPDA is classified to be not oxidising.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification of PPDA is required.
