Description of key information

Acid Red 407 is dark colored dye, which will lead to dark discoloration of the test medium. The discoloration may lead to reduced light intensity in the test medium, which will affect the growth of algae by hampering the photosynthesis process, thus, making it difficult to differentiate the toxic effect from the effect of discoloration. Hence, the toxicity study with algae and cyanobacteria was not considered, instead the toxicity study to aquatic plants was performed.
