Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The study to determine the partition coefficient does not need to be conducted because the substance decomposes. The hydrolysis study demonstrates that the commercial product hydrolyses rapidly and completely. This behavior applies equally to the test substance "reaction product ethylene glycol and para-formaldehyde”. The n octanol/water partition method requires that the test substance remain intact in the aqueous phase. Based on the properties of the test substance, the study is technically not feasible. Therefore, the partition coefficients of the hydrolyses products were considered. The log Pow of the hydrolyses products were determined to be 0.35 for formaldehyde and -1.36 for ethylene glycol.
