Description of key information

In a study performed following OECD Guideline 301B, the test item attained 100 % biodegradation after 28 days and satisfied the 10-Day window validation criterion. The test item can therefore be considered to be readily biodegradable under the strict terms and conditions of OECD Guideline No. 301B.

Sodium 4 -hydroxybenzenesulfonate being readily biodegradable it was considered that determination of the hydrolytic stability was not feasible hence waived. In accordance with REACH Annex VIII column 2, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable or highly insoluble in water.

The substance is expected to have a low potential for aquatic / sediment bioaccumulation because it has a low octanol water partition coefficient (log Kow = -2.79).

The substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient (log Kow = -2.79). Based on the low Partition coefficient value (<3) the substance is expected to have a low potential for adsorption. Hence, the study can be waived.
