Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

In accordance with coumn 2 of REACH Annex VIII the in vivo testing for skin sensitisation does not need to be conducted because the substance is classified as corrosive to the skin.

Available data on the chemically similar substance sarcosine (107 -97 -1) from an LLNA according to OECD guideline 429 and compliant with GLP showed no potential for skin sensitisation. There is sufficient similarity between sarcosine and its sodium salt to conclude that there is no potential for skin sensitisation for sodium sarcosinate.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Based on the availiable data on sarcosine (107 -97 -1) from an LLNA according to OECD guideline 429 sodium sarcosinate is supposed to be non-sensitizing to the skin.

Respiratory sensitisation
