Description of key information

The vapour pressure value was presented as 3 x 10-9 mmHg at 100 °C (McLellan et al., 1988).

The estimated value of Vapour Pressure, using EPIWIN Program, was found to be 2.41 x 10-8 mm Hg ( 3.21x 10-6 Pa) at 25°C.

The vapour pressure of HMX was calculated as 3.33x10-14 at 25 °C by the the Clausius-Clapeyron equation:  log P = A - B/T, where T is in degrees Kelvin (K) (Burrows et al., 1989).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0 Pa
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Since the melting point of HMX is between 200 and 300°C, a recognized caculation is sufficient according to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. The estimated value of Vapour Pressure for HMX, using the EPIWIN Program, is chosen as the key value for the CSA.
