Description of key information

Using the pycnometer method, a density of
1.2078 g/cm3 ± 0.0001 at 20.0 ± 0.2 °C
was measured. This value is the mean of two independent determinations with the maximum
error of a single determination.
Standard deviation calculated with 0.0004 g/cm3 shows good correlation of the two determinations.

Additional information

This study was performed in order to determine the density of Tar wood.

The density is one of the fundamental physico-chemical properties of a chemical substance.

The density was calculated from the difference in weight between a full and empty

pycnometer and its known volume.

The density of Tar wood was calculated as 1.2078 ± 0.0001 g/cm3 at 20.0 ± 0.2 °C, which

is the mean of two values. Precision of the value is given as maximal error of determination.

Standard deviation calculated with 0.0004 g/cm3 shows good correlation of the two determinations.

Therefore, the study is considered valid.
