Description of key information

One key study has been identified as having assessed the short-term toxicity of ethyl methyl carbonate to freshwater fish – an OECD 203, GLP-compliant test using rainbow trout (Oncorhychus mykiss) with analytical verified test concentrations.

Additional information

In the acute fish toxicity test, results of the range-finding study suggested that it was appropriate to only conduct a limit test for the main study. In the main study, no mortalities or sub-lethal effects were observed. A 96-h LC50 of >100 mg/l was determined and indicates that ethyl methyl carbonate is of low toxicity to freshwater fish.
