Description of key information

Accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data are available for the assessment of the bioaccumulation potential of 1-methyl-1H-imidazole (CAS 616-47-7). In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX section 9.3.2, a study does not need to be conducted if the substance has a log Kow less or equal than 3. 1-methyl-1H-imidazole (CAS 616-47-7) has a measured log Kow of -0.19 (25°C; BASF AG, 1989; 104547/01).

Based on the substance’s low n-octanol/water partition coefficient, accumulation in organisms is not to be expected. Therefore, and for reasons of animal welfare, a study on bioaccumulation is not provided.
