Description of key information

This substance is a flammable liquid.

It is not pyrophoric; there is no flammability on contact with water.

(A study is scientifically unjustified since 2-(dimethylamino)-2-methylpropan-1-ol is not pyrophoric and does not emit flammable gases upon contact with water.)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

The substance is a liquid; the flammability is determined based on the flash point of 52 °C (EU Method A.9, closed cup). Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures, the substance is considered to be a flammable liquid, Category 3 (H226), and as R10 according to Directive 67/548/EEC.

Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.
