Additional information

Ditantalum pentaoxide (Ta2O5) is reported to be a white solid powder at room temperature. It has a melting point of 1875 °C and the density is 8.24 g/cm³ at near room temperature. The D50 value (particle size distribution) is 1.07 µm and surface activity is not a desired property of the material.

The water solubility of ditantalum pentaoxide is below 0.005 mg/L at 20 °C.

The metal component in ditantalum pentaoxide is in its highest oxidation state (Ta5 +) and not capable to react with further oxygen atoms. Therefore, the substance is not flammable and does not perform self ignition at any temperature. Furthermore, Ta2O5 does not exhibit oxidizing properties.

The molecule contains no chemical groups which are associated with explosive properties.
