Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

No existing studies or literature considered to be both reliable and wholly relevant were determined to be available on the substance.

Adaptations have been submitted to address each of the terrestrial toxicity data requirements.

The registrant considers that the studies do not need to be conducted since no direct releases to soil from point sources are known and no significant exposure of the terrestrial compartment is expected. In addition, ditantalum pentaoxide is practically insoluble in water and as it is an inorganic substance it cannot be dissolved in organic solvents. As a result, testing of the effect of ditantalum pentaoxide to soil organisms / terrestrial plants (especially via soil pore-water exposure) is technically not feasible. Therefore, further testing is considered inappropriate.

Furthermore, the chemical safety assessment concludes that the substance is of no immediate concern to the environment. The available data are considered adequate for classification and labelling purposes and PBT assessment. Further testing is therefore considered unnecessary.
