Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted as the substance is hydrolytically unstable
(half-life is 5.15 h). However, the calculated low Koc value (57444) from 77PD were used for the calculations of the PNECs for sediment and soil.

Additional information

N, N'-bis(1,4-dimethylpentyl) -p-phenylenediamine (77PD) has a high adsorption factor (LogKoc = 4.76, Sabljic (1995), however is the substance hydrolytically unstable (half-life 5.15 h). N-1,4 -Dimethylpentylamin-p-phenol is the main hydrolysis product and the LogKoc is estimated to be 3.1 (Currenta, 2012). The physicochemical properties from N-1,4 -dimethylpentylamino-p- phenol are different especially concerning the Koc value, it should be taken into account that this metabolite has a different behaviour in the environment.

However, the calculated logKoc values from 77PD, were used for the calculation of PNEC concentration for sediment and soil. Log Koc of the parent substance according to Sabljic (1995) is 4.76.
