Description of key information

According to the OECD 302C study, TDI is not inherently biodegradable, therefore it can be concluded that TDI is also not readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The results of this study indicate that TDI is not readily biodegradable. In aqueous media, TDI reacts to give predominantly insoluble and inert polyurea (Yakabe et al, 1999).
