Details on results:
The fish in the 40 mg/L treatment were markedly stressed during the 96 hour experiment which could be observed in a very high ventilation rate and hyperactivity. The 96 hour LC50 was graphically calculated to be 52 mg/L. No mortality and no behavioural differences compared to the control group were observed at 20 mg/L during the 96 hour exposure period.
Results with reference substance (positive control):
Not applicable
Reported statistics and error estimates:
96 hour LC50 was graphically calculated.

The 96 hour LC50 was graphically calculated to be 52 mg/L. No mortality and no behavioural differences compared to the control group were observed at 20 mg/L during the 96 hour exposure period.
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of 1,3-propanediol, 2,2- bis(hydroxymethyl) -, allyl ether to Zebra fish was determined. The study was carried out according to OECD test guideline 203 - Acute Toxicity for Fish. In this study Zebra fish were exposed to the test material over a test period of 96 hours under semi-static conditions with test media renewal every 24 hours. The test material was dispersed in 5 L dilution water for the fish study. The mixtures were stirred for 48 hours. These solutions were used as stock solutions (100 mg/L) for acute toxicity testing. New test solutions were prepared daily.

Nominal exposure concentrations were 0 (control), 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg/L.  The results of the study were based on the nominal concentrations.

The fish in the 40 mg/L treatment were markedly stressed during the 96 hour experiment which could be observed in a very high ventilation rate and hyperactivity. The 96 hour LC50was graphically calculated to be 52 mg/L and the corresponding NOEC, based on mortality and behavioural differences was observed to be 20 mg/L.

Description of key information
