Description of key information

Self-ignition temperature of Pitch, coal tar, high-temp., < 1% 4- to 5-membered condensed ring aromatic hydrocarbons [EC no. 701-305-8](CTPhtht): > 560 °C at 101 kPa (in analogy to pitch, coal tar, high-temp. [CAS No. 65996-93-2])

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
560 °C

Additional information

The substance Pitch, coal tar, high-temp., < 1% 4- to 5-membered condensed ring aromatic hydrocarbons [CTPhtht] is used as surrogate. CTPhtht is produced from the precursor pitch, coal tar, high-temp. as residue in a distillation that further removes volatile substances and leaves higher membered condensed ring aromatic hydrocarbons. As consequence, the self-ignition temperature of CTPhtht will be at least the same or rather be increased. For characterisation of the autoflammability of CTPhtht, the autoflammability of pitch, coal tar, high-temp. will be used.
