Description of key information

The value for of the melting point (softening point) of Pitch, coal tar, high-temp., < 1% 4- to 5-membered condensed ring aromatic hydrocarbons [EC no. 701-305-8]:

range of test sample 240 - 250 °C; typical range of different samples from 180 °C to 300 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
240 °C

Additional information

Due to its UVCP properties, melting point (softening point) of Pitch, coal tar, high-temp., < 1% 4- to 5-membered condensed ring aromatic hydrocarbons [EC no. 701-305-8] [CTPHTHT] can be variable. A typical range is from 180 °C to 300 °C. For the sample ATE 9076, a melting/softening point in the range of 240 - 250 °C was determined.
