Description of key information

In a GLP study conducted according to EU Method A.1, EDDS acid begain to decompose at approximately 195.2oC (Gair et al. 2002).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a GLP study conducted according to EU Method A.1, the effects of heating EDDS acid under controlled conditions was examined by the capillary method. The test material began to decompose at approximately 195.2oC therefore no melting point could be measured (Gair et al. 2002).

In a GLP study conducted according to EU Method A1 (Differential thermal analysis), trisodium EDDS decomposes above 311oC (van Helvoirt, 1993a). [Data on trisodium EDDS is considered relevant to use for understanding the potential melting point of EDDS acid, and is acceptable for using as read-across information].
