Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a GLP study, the particle size distribution for a sample of EDDS acid ranged from <53 µm to <300 µm, and the mass median diameter between 150-300 µm (Gair et al. 2002).

Additional information

In a GLP study, the particle size distribution for a sample of EDDS acid was calculated using 8'' diameter sieves. The readings ranged from <53 µm to < 300 µm, and the mass median diameter was 150 - 300 µm (about 35% of the particles were distributed in this range). However, due to blinding observed in all sieves, the sample is believed to be finer than the test indicates (Gair et al. 2002).

In addition, in a GLP study conducted according to OECD Guideline 110, the particle size distribution of a sample of trisodium EDDS ranged from <2 µm to >63 µm, and the mass median diameter was 50-63 µm (van Helvoirt & Merkus, 1993).

[Data on trisodium EDDS is considered relevant to use for understanding the potential particle size distribution of EDDS acid, and is acceptable for using as read-across information].
