Description of key information

In a GLP study conducted according to EU Method A.6, the water solubility of EDDS acid was calculated as 0.15 g/L (Gair, 2002).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
150 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

In a GLP study conducted according to EU Method A.6, the water solubility of EDDS was determined using the flask method. The concentration of EDDS acid in various aliquots was monitored by HPLC. The mean water solubility of EDDS acid was calculated as 0.15 g/L at 20oC, at a pH of 3.28 (Gair, 2002).

In addition, in a GLP study conducted according to OECD Guideline 105, trisodium EDDS is very soluble in water (>1000 g/L) at 20°C.(de Vries, 1993b). [Data on trisodium EDDS is considered relevant to use for understanding the potential water solubility of EDDS acid, and is acceptable for using as read-across information].
