Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The test item was stored at 10.9 - 31.4 °C instead of 20 ± 5 °C. This is uncritical as the test item is an inorganic substance. The heating rate was 0.59 K/min. instead of 0.5 K/min. This was considered also uncritical.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
(Landesamt für Umwelt-, Wasserwirtschaft und Gewerbeaufsicht, Rheinland-Pfalz)
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

No sharp increase in the temperature of the sample in comparison to that of the oven could be detected, also no signs of ignition could be observed. After the measurement the test item remained unchanged.

Conclusions:
Test item Silicic acid Aluminium Magnesium Sodium Salt should be considered as not auto-flammable up to the 400 °C under the test conditions.

Description of key information

Test item Silicic acid Aluminium Magnesium Sodium Salt should be considered as not auto-flammable up to the 400 °C.

Also a test on flammable solids shows the test item is not flammable or has any oxidising properties. For this reason there is also no hazard of dust explosion.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
