Description of key information

The toxicity threshold was determined for a number of chemicals using Pseudomonas putida. The toxicity threshold (comparable to a NOEC) in a 16 hour study was >10,000 mg./L. While this study does not follow the typical activated sludge respiration inhibition study design, it does demonstrate that glycerol is relatively non-toxic to bacteria.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
10 000 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
10 000 mg/L

Additional information

The NOEC in a 16 hour study was >10,000 mg/L.
