Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There are no data on sediment toxicity. A PNEC can be estimated based on the equilibrium partitioning method.

In Annex IX of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, it is laid down that long-term toxicity testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment indicates the need to investigate further the effects on sediment organisms. According to Annex I of this regulation, the chemical safety assessment triggers further action when the substance or the preparation meets the criteria for classification as hazardous according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 or is assessed to be a PBT or vPvB. The hazard assessment of AA reveals that it is no PBT or vPvB substance. Furthermore, due to the physico-chemical properties of the substance and its ready biodegradability, a considerable exposure of the sediment compartment is unlikely. Therefore, a long-term toxicity study in sediment organisms is not provided. The PNEC sediment can be estimated based on the equilibrium partitioning method.
