Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish

The acute toxicity of cyclohex-3 -ene-1 -carbaldehyde to fish was investigated in two acute toxicity studies (Bayer 1983, Deneer 1988).

The available studies for cyclohex-3-ene-1-carbaldehyde provide an approximation of the aquatic toxicty of the substance. The LC50 to the investigated fish lies between 1.1 mg/L (Deneer 1988) and 34 mg/L (Bayer 1983) and the lower value is chosen as key value as a worst case. However, the substance is registered in the tonnageband art. 18 1 - 1000 t/a and therefore no further assessment is stipulated.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

The acute toxicity of cyclohex-3-ene-1-carbaldehyde to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) was tested equivalent or similar to EU method C.2 'acute toxicity for Daphnia'. During 48 hours exposure, an EC50 of 40 mg/L was obtained.

Toxicity to microorganisms

The respiration inhibition on activated sludge whitin 3 hours was measured at EC 50 of 473 mg/L.
